CA Site Steward Program Announcements


There are three parts to this announcement.

1. Newly scheduled volunteer training workshops in southern California --

March 23-24, at Furnace Creek, Death Valley National Park, for the BLM Barstow Field Office.
August 10-11, at the San Diego Archaeological Center, Escondido, for the Cleveland National Forest.

Additional workshops will be held in northern California. They will be announced when dates and locations are confirmed.

2. Annual CASSP Committee meeting --

Friday, March 8, 12:00 - 1:00 pm, during the SCA annual meeting at the Berkeley Doubletree Marina Hotel. The CASSP Committee meeting is a public event that you may attend without registering for the SCA annual meeting. The other free public event is the Public Archaeology Day on Sunday, March 10, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. For more information about the annual meeting, visit If you do want to register for the annual meeting and attend the talks, the deadline for online registration is February 18.

3. Archaeological illustration class at reduced cost --

The San Diego Archaeological Center (SDAC) offers a three session course, "Introduction to Archaeological Illustration," by Donna Walker, on February 9, 16, and 23. CASSP volunteers can attend at the reduced rate of $30 payable to the SDAC (a $10 savings). For more information, download the course description and registration at
