International Brigades Archaeology Project – IBAP 2015

Modern Conflict Archaeology in Spain

Dates: September 1st to the 15th 2015

This is a unique archaeological initiative aiming to explore the conflict archaeology of the landscapes encountered by the volunteers of the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War. The project is looking for enthusiastic volunteers who would want to take part, learning in a direct way about the places and conditions in which combatants of the Spanish Civil War fought, and gaining experience in archaeological excavation and field survey in Spain. The project is open to newcomers to archaeology as well as experienced fieldworkers, and knowledge of Spanish is not required. IBAP is based in the U.K., and it is an integral contributor to the Spanish Civil War Archaeology Projected directed by Dr Alfredo González-Ruibal of the Institute of Heritage Sciences (Incipit) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

Please take a look at the project website for further, detailed information, and the cost of taking part. We think you’ll enjoy the website and be inspired to explore the archaeology of the Spanish Civil War.
