Australia Kerry Lodge Convict History Field School Opportunities

The Institute for Field Research is excited for the debut of our Australia Convict History Field Schools! The field schools are run in succession, and students can apply for one or both programs. The two programs taken together constitute a full semester abroad. Each course is worth 8 semester credit units (12 quarter credits).

The first field school will take place at the University of Tasmania, and will include digital humanities techniques to model past historical experience including life course approaches that seek to evaluate the impact of forced migration, labor and punishment regimes on life expectancy, sickness, marriage and family formation rates. For more information about this field school, go to the website here
Course Dates: Feb. 8 - Mar. 11, 2015

The second field school will take place at the Kerry Lodge convict station in Tasmania, and will provide students with a better understanding of archaeological field work including excavation, laboratory and field recording methods. Visit the site website for more information and to download the syllabus.
Course Dates: March 13 - April 17th, 2015
