This position is located at the Governor Charles B. Aycock Birthplace State Historic Site. The Historic Interpreter II position is responsible for developing interpretive programs and special events; conducting appropriate artifact management; managing visitor services; supervising interns; serving as volunteer coordinator; serving as retail sales manager; assisting manager with budget management; scheduling site rentals and other group reservations; collecting, recording and depositing rental fees; serving as secretary for support group, assisting support group officers as needed; cleaning historic buildings; and performing other duties as required. Some travel, holiday, and weekend  work is required. Work schedule is Tuesday – Saturday.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Applicant should possess considerable knowledge of North Carolina History. Ability to perform accepted office practice and methods and the ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written forms. Should have good customer service skills. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Basic computer skills are required. Applicant must be able to multi-task and work efffectivly as a team member in a multi-agency environment. Experience in retail sales and experience budgeting preferred but not required.

 Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school and three years of experience in giving or developing museum tours; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
