Senior Archaeological Technician - Local Candidates Only - Numerous Openings - North Dakota

E3 is seeking to develop a pool of on-call Senior Archaeological Technicians to serve in key roles on a variety of rewarding and challenging projects. As a Senior Archaeological Technician, you will support the organization by supervising and conducting fieldwork, undertaking research (record searches), as well as assisting in the preparation of cultural resource reports and site forms.  This is an opportunity for individuals seeking to advance their career and experience with a growing environmental consulting company. Opportunities are generally located within a 4 hour radius of Watford City, North Dakota. E3 provides per diem and competitive compensation.


Key Responsibilities

·   Fieldwork supervision
·   Class I record searches
·   Intensive Class III surface surveys
·   Subsurface surveys (shovel testing)
·   Test excavations and data recovery efforts
·   Background research assistance
·   Preparation of reports and site forms

Minimum Qualifications

·   B.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology or related discipline
·   2-5 years of experience conducting archaeological surveys and excavation
·   Experience training and guiding junior technicians in the field
·   Ability to lead a crew and meet project driven schedules
·   Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
·   Experience using a Trimble and associated software (Terrasync and GPS Pathfinder Office)
·   Ability to complete physically demanding tasks in remote areas including walking, hiking, carrying loads up to 50 pounds, and digging
·   Willingness to adjust personal schedule to meet project needs, including performing work on weekends and for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

·   M.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology or related discipline
·   Secretary of Interior qualified and eligible for the Register of Professional Archaeologists
·   Working knowledge of ArcGIS 10.x
·   Strong knowledge and experience working with Section 106 of National Historic Preservation Act
·   Experience writing and producing technical reports for SHPO or other agency review
·   Familiarity with North Dakota prehistory and history, as well as State Historical Society of North Dakota guidelines
