Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Any travel, transportation and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee, unless otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses under the Federal Travel Regulations (i.e., current career/career-conditional federal employee).
This is a permanent career seasonal position, for part of each year. The incumbent is guaranteed at least 26 weeks of employment each year, with the remainder subject to non-work, non-pay time. He/She may be authorized to work more each year, depending upon availability of funds. He/She is subject to non-work, non-pay time of up to 26 weeks each year. During periods of employment, the tour of duty is 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.

Occasionally 1-5 nights per month

Major Duties:
Majority of time will involve giving guided tours and talks to the public, presenting education programs to elementary and middle school students (field trips to the park) to include living history, and staffing the visitor center information desk.
Area Information:
George Washington Carver National Monument is located in southwestern Missouri just outside of Diamond and about 10 miles from Joplin.  Summer temperatures generally range from 75-100 degrees with high humidity.  Winter temperatures generally range from 0-50 degrees with periods of intermittent freezing.  All professional, community and educational services are available within the commuting area.  Public transportation is not readily available in the immediate Diamond area.
