Job Responsibilities:
Golder Associates is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians - Contract for the Ottawa office location.

This position will require travel to and from sites up to 6 days per week.

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
* Provide technical services in a field and office environment;
* Carry out Stage 2, 3 and 4 archaeological surveys and excavations, in a Cultural Resources Management setting;
* Conduct archaeological assessment in a variety of work environments; outdoors in all weather conditions with occasional overnight stays during out-of-town projects (double occupancy);
* Participate in a team environment;
* Demonstrate a “Safety First” focus and act as a role model to other staff;
* Maintain a high standard of ethical behaviour to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrate a commitment to our Core Values; and,
* Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* Archaeological technicians will possess or be currently pursuing an Archaeology, Anthropology or related degree from a recognized program or have comparable field experience;
* Previous experience in archaeological fieldwork will be an asset;
* The ability to practice good field methodology at a brisk pace;
* Knowledge of Ontario culture history is an asset;
* Access to transportation and valid driver's licence;
* Good written and verbal communication skills;
* Strong organizational and problem solving skills; and,
* Ability to carry out strenuous physical activity and occasional heavy lifting may be required.

Transportation to job sites will be provided from staging areas in Ottawa. Field Technicians will be required to be able to arrive at these staging areas for 7:30am.

Additional Information:

Golder Associates archaeologists have been working with our Golder U staff to prepare a course to offer our contract archaeologists. The course will be fully funded by Golder and will cover topics such as archaeology theory, health and safety in archaeological field work, artifact recognition and identification, field methods, regulatory requirements, legal and contractual risk and quality processes. We are excited to be offering this course to contract employees. Golder U certification will be provided as learning cycles are successfully complete.
