Archaeological Field Director/Crew Chief - Maumee, OH

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. is seeking applicants for the position of Archaeological Field Director/Crew Chief.  This is a full-time, permanent position in our Maumee, OH office.  Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or closely related field including the successful completion of an accredited field school.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in CRM for Bachelor’s applicants or 2 years’ experience for Master’s applicants, including Phase I, II and III projects.
Prior supervisory field experience in the Midwest/Lower Great Lakes region.
Must hold a valid Driver’s License
Ability to carry heavy field equipment and walk up to ten hours across varying terrain each day in a variety of weather conditions
Preferred qualifications include:
Familiarity with full variety of prehistoric and historic material cultural of the Lower Great Lakes region
Experience with a variety of GPS technologies
Knowledge of basic health and safety issues relevant to archaeological fieldwork
CPR certification
Basic knowledge of GIS programs
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and similar programs
Experience conducting archival research using primary and secondary historical sources
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Responsibilities include:
Serve as Field Director on Phase I surveys; serve as Crew Chief on Phase II and II archaeology projects
On-site archaeologist for monitoring projects
Provide logistical support for the field activities
Maintenance and organization of all field documentation; ensures all fieldwork is conducted in accordance with safety/OSHA standards and protocol
Conducts background research for projects, and assists with artifact processing, curation and technical reporting
Rate of pay is negotiable based on qualifications.  Overnight travel is often required.  Generous benefit packet included.
