This position is located in the Collections Management Section, Curator Branch, Collection Management Division, Naval History and Heritage Command located at the Defense Supply Center in Richmond, VA.  The Curator Branch is responsible for the management of Navy properties of historical and inspirational value, including artifacts, shipboard equipment, ordnance, uniforms, photographs, and memorabilia.  This responsibility encompasses accessioning, preserving, storing, accounting for, and loaning to eligible recipients the properties in the Navy’s historical collections.

Travel is dependent upon position description and availability of funding.
You must be a US Citizen.
Males must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
Selectee must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Selectee is required to participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Performs routine duties to include: cataloging, inventorying, cleaning, photographing, housing, and storage of museum collections in accordance with accepted professional standards 
Executes the packing, shipping and receiving of artifacts which includes, but not limited to, the preparation of artifacts to be loaned, the return of loans, and new acquisitions.    
Conducts data entry of curatorial information into the Naval History and Heritage Command's collection management database.
Participates with collection inventories. 
Perform extensive research in a variety of documentary materials to determine historical validity of artifacts and to answer general inquires on the collection.
