The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a branch of the
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is
seeking eight volunteers to conduct archaeological inventory of 650+
acres in Tooele, UT. This is a great opportunity to gain
hands-on experience in reading topographic maps, navigating
with handheld GPS units, artifact and feature
identification, and site documentation.
The NRCS helps individuals, groups, organizations,
cities, towns and county, and state government to reduce costly waste of land
and water resources. NRCS works with FSA, FS, RD, and public schools to help
our community and educate on the importance of boosting agricultural
productivity and protect our natural resources.
The survey will take
place Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 1st. The survey will cover 650
acres over variable terrain. Participants will camp for 5 days in primitive
conditions with no amenities. You will be responsible for your own camping
gear, food, and water. Archaeological Survey gear will be provided by NRCS.
Applicants must be able

harsh weather conditions and over uneven terrain
