Field Technicians Needed




Hicks & Company Environmental/Archeological Consultants is in need of a temporary archeological field technician for Phase III work in East Texas, beginning mid to late December.


Responsibilities:  Technician will be responsible for excavation, and site documentation, including feature and artifact identification and analyses; descriptions; photographs; and mapping. 


Minimally, technician will be required to perform the following tasks in the field:

·         Conduct unit and/or big block testing in time-sensitive conditions

·         Complete plan views and profiles of features

·         Complete field forms accurately and concisely

·         Trimble, Delorme, Total Station Mapping

·         Photograph resources



·         Bachelor's degree in Archeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed an accredited archeological field school 

·         Demonstrate experience in identifying and recording prehistoric and historic resources within the East Texas Region.  Woodland/Caddo archeological experience preferred.

·         Minimum of 6 months of field experience (e.g., survey, testing, and data recovery), with at least one prior testing or data recovery project

·         Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions and be in good health

·         Strong work ethic, good organizational skills, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks as demonstrated through references

·         Experience with curation and report writing preferred but not required


Salary Range:  $14–17.00/hr depending on experience; $40/day per diem
