A permanent position is currently available in our Canberra office for an Graduate archaeologist / heritage consultant. Job tasks and responsibilities
To be successful in this role you must have the ability and skills to:
Undertake background research, synthesise and document findings
Prepare basic reports
Undertake field survey and excavation
Identify and record heritage sites (with an emphasis on Aboriginal sites)
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Assist in producing archaeological and heritage assessments
Skills and experience
Selection Criteria
Essential criteria
Tertiary qualifications (Honours minimum) in archaeology, heritage management or related field
Ability to participate in fieldwork including in remote areas
Knowledge of site identification and recording techniques
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Manual Drivers licence
Ability to work in a team and independently
Desirable criteria
Knowledge of relevant heritage legislation and policy (NSW, ACT, Commonwealth)
ARCGIS mapping skills (highly desirable)
Experience in conducting field survey and site recording
Knowledge of stone artefact recording techniques
4WD experience and/or training
Experience in heritage consulting
First Aid Certificate
The suitable candidate would initially be based in our Canberra office but with a possible option of locating to Sydney in the future.
