Historian/Historic Research Assistant needed--- San Diego, Ca.

Brian F. Smith and Associates, Inc., (BFSA) is seeking to hire a full-time historical research assistant and/or historian with architectural or building evaluation experience to prepare historic structure assessments. This position is based out of our Poway office. Strong technical report writing skills and ability to conduct intensive archival and technical research is a must. Prior working experience in historic structure review and direct experience in historic archive research is necessary.  Strong candidates will possess excellent report writing skills, computer and internet skills, excellent communication, time management and organizational skills. This position will require you to simultaneously manage electronic deliverables on many ongoing projects, as well as to complete assignments on-time and within budget.

Education and Experience:

       M.A. in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, History or other directly related field preferred.

       Minimum of two years of related non-academic work experience preferred.

       Strong attention to detail, flexible and motivated.

       Organized with the ability to work on several projects concurrently.

       Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

       Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Registration Requirements:

Candidates must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural Historian or Historian.
