Position Opening: Project Archaeologist, Seattle WA

Tierra Right of Way Services is seeking an Archaeologist for our Environmental Planning and Cultural Resources Division in Washington.

Position Summary

The project archaeologist assists with cultural resources management projects under the supervision of the cultural resources project manager.  Responsibilities include background research and literature review; conducting survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery projects; and assisting with report writing.  Tierra maintains dedicated GIS, editing, and IT departments which support this position.

The successful candidate will work out of our Seattle office, with partial telecommuting options available.  We are considering both full- and part-time options.  Compensation will be commensurate with applicant’s experience and education. 

Minimum Qualifications

·       BA/BS in Anthropology or Archaeology. Preference will be given to those who meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for professional archaeologist (MA/MS or PhD in anthropology or archaeology)

·       5+ years of CRM experience in the Pacific northwest, preferably in Washington

·       Ability to use GPS units in the field

·       Demonstrated report writing experience

·       Ability to conduct fieldwork in physically demanding conditions

·       Ability to travel for fieldwork

·       Ability to cooperate and function as part of a team
