Archaeological Field Technicians - Throughout California



MCC, Inc.

Material Culture Consulting, Inc., located in Claremont, California, is hiring qualified archaeologists and paleontologists for projects throughout the State of California and Western Nevada. These are project-hire positions and hours will be assigned as per employee availability/location, and employee skill set, expertise, and experience. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Relocation will not be reimbursed and you must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Typical Duties:
Perform cultural and/or paleontological resources construction monitoring
Conduct archaeological and/or paleontological field surveys
Record data for scientific and compliance purposes using company forms and established field methodology
Prepare daily progress/monitoring reports as needed by the project
Use GPS equipment (Garmin/Trimble) for field data collection
Work independently or as part of a team
Complete other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic archaeology, or a related field (to be considered as archaeological field technician)
Completed coursework in geology/paleontology (to be considered as paleontological field technician)
Minimum of two years of professional experience as a field archaeologist and/or paleontologist, including construction monitoring experience
Valid driver’s license, good driving record, reliable vehicle
Computer literate
Articulate verbal and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications
Valid HAZWOPER 40HR Certificate
Experience in the environmental consulting industry, preferably in Southern California
Professional GIS certification and/or two years’ experience working with ESRI GIS software
Technical writing expertise for archaeological and paleontological resource management reports and monitoring reports
