Archaeologist, Mid-Atlantic Region


RGA, Inc. (RGA) is a full-service cultural resource management firm headquartered in Cranbury, New Jersey. We are seeking an experienced archaeologist for project assignments mainly in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.

RGA is seeking a hardworking and versatile professional archaeologist to join our talented staff. Duties will include supervising and performing fieldwork, including archaeological monitoring during construction and all phases of archaeological surveys; project scoping; assisting in Native American consultation; research and conducting record searches; preparing site forms; and synthesizing and analyzing project materials to assist in completing reports and environmental document sections. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, positive attitude and willingness to learn are absolute musts.

Other responsibilities include managing budgets, preparing proposals, preparation of reports and other technical documents, contributing to research designs, treatment plans and other technical documents.
This is a full-time position and compensation includes a complete benefits package. Salary is dependent upon qualifications.

• Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, history or related field is required.
• Minimum of at least five (5) years of experience as a field director/senior archaeologist in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast states
• Familiarity with both pre-contact (Native American) and historic period archaeological sites and artifacts
• Familiarity with federal and state regulatory processes (NEPA, Section 106 etc.)
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills are a must.
• Prior experience with managing and coordinating staff and other resources within budgetary constraints.
• Must be able to work independently as well as supervise small or large field crews, if necessary;
• Ability to work with a variety of colleagues and clients.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Ability to use Trimble GPS, Experience with ESRI GIS software is a plus.
• HAZWOPER certification preferred, but not required.
• Must be willing to work from our Cranbury, New Jersey headquarters.
