This position is located at the Archaeology division within the Office of Cultural Development in Baton Rouge, LA.
DUTIES:  Develop, implement and manage initiatives for heritage education, public information, and public outreach using printed matter, interactive exhibits, and social media in order to provide factual and understandable information about Louisiana archeology and cultural heritage to the public.   
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience writing professional documents for the general public, and specifically for school-age audiences. Knowledge of scientific and archaeological methods and techniques. Experience using social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and similar formats in a professional, educational context. Experience with Microsoft Office software. Familiarity with Louisiana history and archaeology preferred. Experience with MUSE and ARCGIS by ESRI.

Manages the Archaeological Grants Program.

Develops Scopes-of-services for archaeological survey and testing projects.
Acts as technical expert on Historical Archaeology and on Underwater Archaeology.
Coordinates the permits for archaeological investigation on state land.
Develops and periodically revises the Louisiana Comprehensive Archaeological Plan, which entails: holding public hearings; soliciting comments from archaeologists, land-use managers, private industry, and the public; identifying recordation and preservation needs; in conjunction with others, setting program priorities; and preparing the final document for publication.
Functions as curator for archaeological collections under the Division of Archaeology's control.
Acts as office authority on artifact conservation matters.
