Archaeological Field Technician

Environmental Intelligence, LLC (EI) is seeking archaeological field technicians to support projects throughout Southern and Central California. The applicant must show at least 1 year of California-based experience and should demonstrate experience working as an archaeologist on survey and monitoring projects.  For consideration, please submit your resume and cover letter to 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct pedestrian survey and construction monitoring in the field, including the collection of field data, digital photography, daily reporting, artifact identification, GPS data collection, and mapping.
  • Assist in conducting research and literature reviews.
  • Assist in preparation of technical reports, California DPR-523 site forms, and other deliverables.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related discipline; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Completion of an archaeological field school or equivalent experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in California with a range of field tasks including archaeological survey and construction monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and to work well with others as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel, and ability to use related computer systems and software. 
  • Experience with GPS equipment is required; GIS experience using ArcMap and other ESRI software is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe and reliant vehicle, with travel often required off of paved roads.
  • Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, often at high altitudes, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Ability to travel as needed throughout Southern and Central California.  Familiarity with cultural resource law and regulations.
