GIS Position for Archaeology - La Jara, CO

Espinoza Cultural Services (ECS) is seeking a GIS Specialist to support geo-spatial technical requirements in Colorado. This opening is a fulltime position to support ongoing cultural resource, natural resource, and NEPA-related GIS needs on other similar projects. This position is salaried after a 90-day probationary period. Job is located in our La Jara, Colorado office; no remote offers will be made. We are looking to interview and hire as soon as possible. Compensation will be based on experience. No third parties or agencies, please.

 

Responsibilities:

·       Provide GIS data processing, mapping, image processing, photo interpretation, polygon editing, and data management

·       Present GIS data in cogent fashion via spatial data manipulation of multiple layers - buffering, intersection, dissolving, etc., with a topology

·       Support geo-spatial analysis projects on real property and other natural resource-based topics

·       Generate, convert, and manage datasets for posting to map server, and for use by map services and analytical tools

·       Collect, compile, or integrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, such as real property, for inclusion in reports and map manuscripts

·       Research, study, and prepare maps and other spatial data in digital or graphic form for natural resource issues relating to environmental and fire management

 

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor's Degree in geography, remote sensing, or cultural/natural resources-related field with experience in geo-spatial technologies, applied geography, remote sensing, or a related discipline

·       Minimum 3 years of hands-on, professional GIS production experience

·       Proficiency in applying ESRI’s ArcGIS 10.x, including working with ArcGIS Server and data administration

·       Experience performing spatial manipulation of layer data such as generalization, dissolving, intersection, buffering, etc. with a topology

·       Excellent attention to detail and strong, demonstrated oral and written communication skills

·       Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment as well as independently

·       Subject Matter Expertise in geo-spatial standards and metadata
