One position is located on the Tonto National Forest, with a duty station of Payson or Phoenix, AZ.  The duty station will be determined at the time of selection.
One position is located on the Tonto National Forest, with a duty station of Phoenix, AZ, and will be shared with the Prescott National Forest.
The incumbents are responsible for inventory, evaluation, and advice on heritage and cultural resource management, including determination of effects of projects on cultural resources and recommended mitigation.

The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.

The incumbents are responsible for inventory, evaluation, protection, and interpretation of historic and prehistoric sites, and will act as a Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for heritage survey contracts. The incumbents will also assist the Heritage Program by ensuring integration of heritage and cultural resource activities with other resources. The incumbents will plan, direct, coordinate and execute surveys as part of the land use planning process based on Forest-wide priorities and needs. Work includes preparation of maps, inventories, reports, and records related to cultural resources, as well as data entry of this information into the Forest Service database of record (i.e. NRM). These positions verify archeological and historical sites and provides guidance to line management in marking, protection, and salvage of these sites. These positions ensures that scientific and systematic procedures are followed in identifying, evaluating, and classifying cultural resources and will assist in the development of contract specifications for heritage and cultural resource work and acts as COR or inspector on such contracts.
