Archaeological Technicians in Florida

Janus Research is seeking archaeological technicians for a number of projects in southern Florida and the Florida panhandle. Projects are expected to begin by the end of February and are expected to last for at least 6 weeks.

Work will mostly involve hiking and the excavation of shovel tests. All such work will be done in support of experienced archaeological technicians and crew chiefs who will be responsible for artifact identification and field notes.

Applicants must be able to possess the following qualities: 

  • The ability to perform extensive manual labor outdoors in Florida. This work will include excavation with shovels, bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing perhaps up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing.
  • Must be able to take and follow directions and instruction.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Hotel stays and per diem will be provided by Janus Research.

Pay will be based on experience.
