MCC - Immediate Openings for Experienced Field Technicians - Throughout California


Material Culture Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking experienced Field Technicians for steady on-call work throughout California. This position will be based out of our Pomona, California location but extensive travel throughout the state will be required. Staffing for remote projects can be up to two weeks at a time. For out-of-town projects, lodging is provided by the company either in single occupancy hotels or AirBnB rentals. Per diem is based on reimbursed receipts.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a wide range of sectors, have the flexibility to travel and conduct fieldwork with short notice, prepare sections of technical reports, and have mid-level expertise using ESRI ArcGIS Collector applications. Please note - relocation expenses for this position will not be reimbursed and you must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Typical Duties:

- Participate on field crews for large-scale cultural and/or paleontological resources construction monitoring projects and pedestrian surveys
- Collect data for scientific and compliance purposes using company forms and established field methodology
- Prepare daily progress/monitoring reports as needed by the project
- Use GPS equipment (Tablet with bluetooth GPS antenna) for field data collection
- Work independently or as part of a team

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic archaeology, or a related field
- Completion of an accredited archaeological field school, preferably in California
- Demonstrated ability to accurately identify and describe lithic artifacts in California
- Minimum of two years of professional experience as a field archaeologist
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, reliable vehicle
- Computer literate
- Articulate verbal and writing skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Off-road driving training and / or extensive experience driving in challenging terrain in mountainous or desert landscapes 

Preferred Qualifications

- Valid HAZWOPER 40HR Certificate
- Two years of experience working with ESRI ArcGIS Collector application 
- Professional experience working in the Mojave Desert, Eastern Sierra, and/or High Sierra regions of California
- First Aid Training including CPR Training
