Archaeological Project Manager - TRC Gulf Coast


  • TRC Companies is a multi-faceted environmental and infrastructure firm that offers a combined strength of 5,000 environmental, engineering, and cultural resource management professionals located in more than 100 offices nationwide. TRC is one of the major providers of cultural resource management services in the United States. The permanent TRC cultural resources staff includes archaeologists, architectural historians, preservation planners, archaeological technicians, GIS analysts, and other administrative and support personnel. 

TRC has an immediate opening for a full-time, benefited archaeological Project Manager to support our growing presence in the Gulf Coast and Midwest region. This position could be based in one of our Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas offices.

 The Project Manager will be responsible for

  • Management and direct supervision of all types of archaeological projects, ranging from small local surveys through large, multi-year and multi-state linear energy projects.

  • Duties may include marketing, proposal development, client coordination, regulatory and tribal consultation, development and implementation of research designs, work plans, and schedules, fieldwork, and analysis and reporting. Work closely with other TRC archaeologists, environmental staff, permitting specialists, and managers. 

  • We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm about his/her work and a strong commitment to client service and technical excellence. 

  • Successful candidates will enjoy the challenges of working alongside others in a fast-paced environment and of helping to develop effective solutions to both expected and unexpected project challenges.
  • The position will require travel away from the home office, occasionally at short notice, and the occasional ability to work extended hours.
  • Advanced degree in Anthropology or related field (must meet Secretary of the Interior's guidelines)

  • Five or more years of progressive experience supervising archaeological projects in the Gulf Coast or Southeastern states

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and management skills

  • Experience with state and federal agency and tribal consultation, including FERC and USACE permitting of natural gas pipelines or permitting of similar projects.

  • An excellent reputation within the professional and regulatory communities

  • The ability to work closely with engineers and other technical specialists as part of a larger project team

  • Familiarity with digital field technology (GPS, total station, etc.) and GIS applications and software and

  • Successful technical report and proposal writing experience
