Course Description
The 2019 Oregon Coast Archaeology Field School will offer students archaeological experience from a dual lens where they will learn about cultural resource management (CRM) laws, compliance, and regulations – while also learning about academic research including radiocarbon dating, geochemical analysis, and stable oxygen and carbon isotopes. The goal of the Archaeology Field School is to bridge the dichotomy between academic and CRM archaeologies and demonstrate how these different applications of archaeology work in concert to achieve common goals providing a wholistic experience.

The Archaeology Field School provides training for undergraduate and graduate students in survey, testing, and excavation of cultural resources. Students will learn how to excavate archaeological materials, process, catalogue, and analyze residuals in a laboratory.
