SEARCH is a leading national and global provider of cultural resource services in the fields of Archaeology, Maritime Archaeology, Architectural History, History and Archives, and Museum Services. We have immediate openings in the SEARCH Southeast Region for full-time Archaeologists to support multiple upcoming archaeological data recovery and survey projects. The positions will be based out of SEARCH’s Hollywood, Florida office.

Qualified candidates should have the following:
Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field;
Successful completion of an archaeology field school;
Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualified;
At three (3) years of archaeological field experience;
Proficiency in verbal and written communication in Spanish;
Must demonstrate experience in performing archaeological monitoring, survey, and excavation in South Florida;
Southeastern regional archaeological experience;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
The position requires that candidates be able to:
Follow COVID-19 guidelines that include adherence to 100% mask wearing, social distancing, and sanitization procedures;
Adhere to project health and safety plans and participate in office and field trainings and meetings;
Conduct archaeological reconnaissance, survey, testing, assessment, excavation, and monitoring fieldwork in accordance with a Research Design;
Use scientific judgment to interpret cultural, environmental, geological, and/or hydrographical field conditions;
Use GPS-based digital field data collection technology and protocol to determine project limits, record fieldwork, document findings, and communicate progress;
Use a digital camera to photo-document artifacts, features, excavation units, land use, landscapes, fieldwork-in-progress, unique environmental features, historic structures, project areas, and archaeology sites;
Record accurate, organized, and clear field notes, maps, drawings, logs, forms, tables, databases, artifact bags, box labels and other project documentation;
Collect and inventory artifacts and samples in accordance with a Research Design;
Perform quality assurance/quality control of field data daily to ensure information is accurate and complete;
Maintain field equipment, technology, supplies, and vehicles in a clean, working, tidy, and safe manner, and report any malfunctions, shortages, and risks to Supervisors;
Meet project deadlines and performance expectations for the completion of daily, weekly, and project objectives;
Complete company time accounting, administrative, logistic, research, and management tasks as requested;
Occasionally lead small teams on field projects;
Collaborate with peers and supervisors on a multidisciplinary team;
Travel for weeks at a time; and
Other duties as assigned.
Chosen candidates will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check, including the DMV.
