This position is located within the Malheur Field Office, Vale District. The primary purpose of this position is to function as a Section 106 Cultural Resource Lead for a large scale cost recovery Energy Project. The incumbent will coordinate with the Project Coordinator and the District Manager regarding tribal consultation needs; and lead the Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and consultation process with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). This position will assist the Project Manager, Supervisor, Field Managers, and the District Manager in ensuring that all terms within the Programmatic Agreement (PA) for linear energy projects are being met to the satisfaction of the required signatories. The incumbent will coordinate with cooperating federal and state agencies, including consultation with the necessary State Historic Preservation Offices. Incumbent reviews National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility for cultural and historical property treatment plans. Consults and coordinates with local tribes to solicit input on undertakings and management of sites of a sensitive nature located within the area of potential effects boundary.
Major duties include but not limited to: Curation, Archeological Inventories, Consultation, Heritage Resources Management, Heritage and Paleontological Resources Environmental Analysis and Planning Documents, Education and Outreach, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Budget Process, Certifications.
This is a Term position not-to-exceed (NTE) four (4) years from employment date. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
