Southern Research, Historic Preservation Consultants, Inc. is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to work on a project-by-project basis primarily in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Experience with archaeological survey in the Southeastern US is required. We are looking for people who can: read topographic maps, use a GPS, carry a pack with enough food and water to last the workday, excavate shovel tests, complete paperwork legibly, use a mobile database, and hand draw site sketch maps utilizing compass and pacing. Field conditions frequently range from dense forested areas, steep mountainous terrain, to wide open agricultural fields. Up to date MSHA Training Certification is a plus.
Pay will be based upon experience and competence level with prevailing wage rates paid on federal projects. Per diem is $45 and single occupancy hotel rooms are provided.
