This temporary term position is located with the Alaska Region, Chugach National Park, Cordova Ranger District.
The incumbent is responsible for inventory, evaluation, and advice on heritage and cultural resource management, including determination of effects of projects on cultural resources and recommended mitigation.

Plan and execute section 106 compliance to completion through various means including identification, evaluation, and classification of cultural resources known and unknown.
Provide report findings for review and approval of all cultural inventories and excavations including any issues or problems in managing the cultural resources.
Assist the Chugach National Forest Archeologist in completing investigations related to site vandalism, theft, or damage of known and previously unknown cultural resources.
Assist the Chugach National Forest Archeologist in matters related to the discovery and identification of known and unknown human remains, burial sites, objects of cultural patrimony, and other NAGPRA related issues.
Follow provisions of the State Protocol Agreement for Section 106 regarding the Alaska region.
Manage the heritage program database, i.e. update, correct data entry, GIS entry, site verification.
Plan and execute identified Section 110 compliance needs and requirements.
Support the District Ranger in tribal consultation related to Section 106 and the heritage program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
50% or less – You will be expected to travel for this position for site visits, meetings, and or training.
