Duties
Archeological Technicians assist other professional cultural resource specialists with on-the-ground field studies to identify cultural, historical, and/or paleontological resources.
Work may involve designing and conducting inventories, and/or compiling and interpreting collected data. as well as compiling and interpreting collected data and researching reference materials.
Archeological Technicians may also research reference materials, write reports on inventory activities, or prepare documents for determinations of eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places.
Researches files and records to obtain information about sites scheduled for cultural inventories. Reviews reference material to aid in identification of artifacts recovered during inventories.
Plans and carries out non-complex cultural resource field inventories. Determines inventory methods to use, identifies area to be inventoried, schedules inventory, and arranges for equipment, supplies and transportation.
