This position is in the Recreation, Heritage and Engineering staff area of the Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests, with a duty location of Columbia, South Carolina.
This position is the Forest Heritage Program Manager, the primary advisor to the Forest Supervisor, and supervises the heritage staff across the Forest.

Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and administering a diverse and highly complex Forest?s Heritage Resources Management Program.
Develops and implements an annual program of work including procedures and objectives based on established goals and priorities set by the leadership team.
Provides advice and assistance in the resolution of complex or controversial issues related to cultural resource management independently, or as a member of interdisciplinary group.
Prepares scopes of works and administers contracts and agreements for cultural resource professional services and activities as Contracting Officer?s Representative.
Oversees Section 110 identification, evaluation, and management of historic properties and a large Section 106 and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance workload.
Evaluates cultural resources for National Register eligibility and prepares and submits nominations for significant historic properties for listing.
Provides program leadership and program oversight when managing highly complex and diverse historic properties of national, state, regional and local significance.
Provides professional and technical guidance to heritage resource specialists, with direction for, advice to, and oversight of heritage and cultural resource management program activities and responsibilities.
Ensures coordination with the regional tribal relations program on sensitive and controversial issues common to both programs.
Ensures coordination with the Forest History Program for agency administrative history and archives.
Recommends corrective actions to the Forest Supervisor or regional office when violations are found and coordinates all necessary remedial action to obtain compliance.
Recommends and carries out required elements of research plans related to studies, excavations, artifact analysis and content of reports.
Performs Supervisory duties 20% or less of the time. Plans the work to be accomplished by the forest, assigns work to employees, and establishes production or quality standards for the forest?s work.
