Duties
Plan, conduct research for, and write information papers and special historical studies that range from the brief work done quickly to broad in scope with considerable depth on a variety of subjects.
In analyzing the research material, uses sound critical judgment to evolve and tests hypotheses, clarify causal relationships, and develop a reasonable and factually accurate synthesis that clearly establishes the relative importance of the facts.
Plan, conduct research for, and write installments of a continuing historical study, the Department of the Army Historical Summary (DAHSUM), a volume of which is published for each fiscal year.
Conduct research, and establishes and working relationships with HQDA officials, to uncover essential information not immediately available and to clarify questions about source material.
Provide expert historical reference assistance, in writing and verbally, to respond appropriately to inquiries and requests for information from Army, DoD, and other federal government officials as well as from members of the media and the public.
