Cultural Resource Field Tech/Crew Chief

Field Projects in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia
Marstel-Day, LLC, a premier environmental and sustainability consulting firm, seeks qualified, on-call
Cultural Resource Field Technicians and Crew Chiefs, to support interesting Phase I and II fieldwork
and long-term monitoring primarily in Virginia, Maryland, and/or the District of Columbia. Marstel-Day
pays $20/hr to $25/hr for field technicians and crew chiefs depending on level of experience,
including full hotel lodging rates and per diem to each field crew member.
Qualification Requirements:
Entry-level and Mid-level Technicians:
o Bachelor’s degree in cultural resources (archaeology, anthropology, architectural history,
historic architecture or historic preservation)
o Entry-level field technician positions: 1+ years of experience and knowledge in conducting
archaeology field studies (Phase I, II; school sponsored field projects can be counted
towards this experience)
o Mid-level positions: 3+ years of experience and knowledge in conducting archaeology field
studies (Phase I, II; school sponsored field projects can be counted towards this experience)
o Self-motivated and ability to work independently in flexible work environment
o Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite programs and GIS/GPS technology is a plus,
but not required
Crew Chief:
o Bachelor’s degree in cultural resources (archaeology, anthropology, architectural history,
historic architecture or historic preservation); Master’s degree preferred, but not required
o 4+ years of field experience and previous crew chief experience
o Meeting Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications for Archaeology, Architectural
History or History preferred, but not required
o Experience in report preparation is a plus
o Good communication and personnel management skills
o Self-motivated and ability to work independently in flexible work environment
o Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite programs and GIS/GPS technology is a plus
To be hired, an incumbent must:
• Be eligible to work in the U.S. (DHS Form I-9 must be completed by the incumbent and
submitted to DHS for verification of citizenship and eligibility through E-Verify)
• Submit to a background check as a condition of any final offer of employment.
Salary and Benefits:
Marstel-Day pays $20/hr to $25/hr for field technicians and crew chiefs depending on level of
experience, including full hotel lodging rates and per diem to each technician. The Company offers a
very flexible work environment. We pay a competitive wage commensurate with the incumbent’s
level of education, certification/registration, experience, and responsibilities. Sick leave benefit is
provided to all employees.
