Archaeological Technicians (Full time, permanent) – Seminole Tribe of Florida
This is an entry-level position for the archeological section for the Seminole Tribe of Florida Tribal Historic Preservation Office. The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing systematic investigations of possible archeological sites, including excavation, field data collection, and data recording. Work also includes extensive use of GPS software to record spatial data. Employees in this position may work closely with Tribal community members to document sites and the history of the STOF reservation lands. The incumbent in this position performs work in the archeological laboratory such as cleaning, counting and cataloging artifacts and ecofacts. The incumbent is required to report to any one of the seven (7) reservations depending on daily scheduled project work. Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archeology, History or related field is required. A minimum of six (6) months experience conducting Phase I fieldwork and an archaeological field school is required. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License (or have the ability to obtain one prior to hire) and be able to operate Tribal vehicles, which include 4-wheel drive trucks and all-terrain vehicles. Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Must have the ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. No per diem or lodging is provided.
Fieldwork will occur on any of the 7 reservations, though most will be located on the Big Cypress Reservation (closest town is Clewiston) or the Brighton Reservation (closest town is Okeechobee).
The hourly range for the position is $18.75-23.50
