Veterans Curation Program (VCP) Laboratory Manager
Job Description
Reports to: Project Manager
Directly Supervises: VCP Veteran Laboratory Technicians
Status: Full-Time
Location: VCP Laboratory, San Mateo, California
Job Summary
The VCP Laboratory Manager works closely with other management staff to provide leadership, training, and oversight for the curation of archaeological and archival collections processed in the VCP laboratory. This position is responsible for ensuring technicians are successfully trained in processing documentation associated with archaeological excavations and providing assistance that may help with the veterans’ transition to the civilian workforce.
Essential Functions:
· Oversee daily processing of federally-owned archives and artifact collections
· Develop training materials and facilitate training of technicians in collections processing
· Instruct technicians on data entry and database management
· Ensure collections meet federal and state curation standards
· Perform daily administrative duties, including bi-weekly situational report writing
· Draft and edit finding aids and collection management reports
· Perform quality control on archival databases, artifact catalogs, reports, photographs, and scans
· Actively provide professional advice and guidance to technicians, including resume building
· Generate social media content
· Represent the program to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel, military representatives, veterans service organizations, and community members

Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Archival/Information Studies, Museum Studies, Historic Preservation or closely related field
· Graduate degree preferred
· Field school or cultural resource management experience is preferred, but not required
Compensation and Benefits
· Hourly rate of $34.00 per hour.
· Federal Holidays; 15 Days Paid Leave; Paid Health/Dental/Life Insurance; 401k (after one year)
