This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for an Archaeologist for our Las Vegas, Nevada office. Be involved in projects with our Heritage & Cultural Resources Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Experience as an archaeological monitor.
- Able to direct field teams on archaeological surveys and excavations.
- Comfortable interacting with clients, landowners, and construction teams.
- Skilled in technical report writing.
- Experience working with tribal monitors and representatives.
- Versed in heritage and cultural resource state and federal regulations.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or a related field; Master’s Degree/Ph.D. preferred.
- 3 to 5 years relevant post-education work experience in the context of Section 106/110 and compliance.
- 3 to 5 years experience in Nevada/Great Basin CRM archaeology.
- This is a temporary, full-time position for a long-term monitoring project (six months). Ability to travel and work on short notice is necessary. There is opportunity for continuing work once monitoring assignment concludes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Expertise in a defined archaeological subfield, evidenced by publications and/or presentations.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Local to Nevada and surrounding region is preferred.
- Experience conducting archaeological monitoring is preferred.
