Salary Range:
Field Technicians: $20-23.00/hr. (Depending on experience)
Crew Chiefs: $23.25-$27.75/hr. (Depending on experience) with $50-59/day per diem or receipt expense reimbursement (depending on project/contract)

HDR, Inc is in need of archaeological field technicians for Phase I work in Texas, Oklahoma, and surrounding states. We currently have several new large-scale projects booked for late summer and fall.
Responsibilities: Archaeological Field Technicians are responsible for conducting shovel testing, pedestrian survey and site documentation, which includes feature and artifact identification and analyses; site descriptions; photographs; and mapping. Archaeological field technicians are required to perform the following tasks in the field:
- Excavate up to 15 shovel tests a day
- Walk up to 6 miles a day
- Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts correctly
- Conduct archaeological survey and testing
- Complete sketch maps of sites
- Complete field forms accurately and concisely
- Use Trimble GPS units
- Photograph resources
Crew Chiefs additionally will be expected to lead and supervise 1-2 field technicians in the execution of the above.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed an accredited archaeological field school. Candidates must have experience identifying and recording prehistoric and historic resources within the Southern Plains and Gulf Coast regions. Candidates must also have a minimum of 6 months (12 months for crew chiefs) of field experience (e.g., survey, testing, and data recovery). Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures). Candidates should also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks.
