Heritage Consultants, LLC is seeking a full time, permanent Archaeological Laboratory Specialist that will be responsible for the processing, cataloging, and conservation of material culture recovered from archaeological investigations throughout New England and New York. In addition, the Laboratory Specialist will be responsible for the operations of the laboratory and working with other specialists and field archaeologists to ensure that proper methods for reporting and analysis. The Laboratory Specialist works closely with other managers in developing data management procedures that meet state and federal curation and repository standards, including those put forth by the National Park Service under 36 CFR Part 79. Specific duties will include:
- Artifact Processing and Cataloguing
- Archaeology Data and Database Management
- Artifact Photography
- Artifact Inventory and Curation Preparation
- Managing and Maintaining Lab Equipment and Supplies
- Artifact Analysis Reporting, Report Production, and Report Formatting
- Editing of archaeology reports, as needed
- Experience with faunal, archaeobotanical, ceramic, and/or lithic analysis preferred
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Anthropology or Archaeology
- 1+ years of experience in an Archaeological Laboratory Procedures
Other Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office software applications including:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Adobe Acrobat
- Microsoft Access
- Flotation of archaeobotanical samples
- Photography/digital camera operation knowledge
- Ability to handle time-sensitive or time-critical requests
- Ability to research and apply analytical methods for artifact analysis
- Ability to prioritize workloads to meet multiple project schedules and deadlines
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a Project Team
- Excellent written and verbal skills
