Position: Archaeology Project Director
Location: Guam
Description: International Archaeological Research Institute, Inc., an equal opportunity employer, seeks a full-time, one-year term-hire Archaeology Project Director for its Guam office; employment may be extended, if appropriate. A graduate degree in anthropology with specialization in archaeology or a degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of project management and CRM experience required. Pacific Islands or Asian archaeology experience is required; osteological/bioarchaeological experience will be viewed favorably. Must have a valid U.S. passport and U.S. driver’s license, and must be able to pass a background check for access to military installations. Position involves conducting fieldwork and supervising archaeology crews, report writing, overseeing laboratory analyses, and general project oversight. Applicant should have computer skills (Microsoft and Adobe software), basic GPS/GIS proficiency, a good sense of organization, problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, a strong determination to maintain project schedules, and a willingness to work as part of a team. Project work primarily on Guam, though projects in other parts of Micronesia are possibilities. Position available immediately. Annual starting salary range is $65,000-$70,000 commensurate with position and experience of the applicant; benefits include healthcare insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and a retirement program. IARII will provide round-trip airfare, partial relocation compensation, and a monthly vehicle allowance.
