Kautz Environmental Consultants, Inc., (KEC) of Reno, Nevada, is currently accepting applications for field archaeologists for upcoming excavation and survey projects. Compensation ranges from $20-25 an hour, depending on experience. Fieldwork will occur throughout Nevada (including Reno area projects) and southeastern CA. Transportation is provided from Reno to the project area; meal allowance and lodging will be provided for non-local projects. Meal allowance is $55/day. Local projects will generally be scheduled Monday-through-Friday. Local projects are not eligible for meal allowance and lodging stipends.
Qualifications:
Preferred technician candidates will have a B.S. or B.A. in Anthropology or Archaeology, and at least one year of field experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in Great Basin and California archaeology. Mine Safety Training will be provided (paid) if needed. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, bend, and kneel for long periods of time; lift at least 30 lbs.; and hike 10+ miles per day in rough terrain and weather conditions. Project-Specific Needs:
May 2021: Two field technicians with southwest Desert experience for pedestrian inventory. Project will be run with ten-day rotations (Monday to Wednesday) with accommodations provided during non-workdays. Project duration: 3 months.
IMMEDIATE NEED: Field technicians for non-local excavation and survey projects in NV eligible for meal allowance and lodging during workdays. Rotations will be run 8 days on/6 days off. Project duration: 6+ months.
June 2021. Field technicians for data recovery in Reno, NV, not eligible for meal allowance and lodging. Work schedule four 10-hour days (Monday to Thursday). Project duration: 2 months.
