Responsibilities
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Office of Renewable Energy Programs (OREP), Environment Branch for Renewable Energy, in Sterling, VA. The incumbent’s responsibility is to provide the professional expertise and guidance for historic preservation necessary to support planning and decision making related to offshore renewable energy activities.
At the full performance level, GS-14 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1) As a team lead, plan, communicate, prioritize and track goals and assignments for a team of historic preservation professionals; perform quality control on the team’s work products; and track and work to maintain or improve the team’s performance.
2) Serve as OREP’s Regional Preservation Officer and assist the BOEM Federal Preservation Officer in coordinating regional activities and ensuring compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).
3) Oversee Section 106 consultations with state, local, tribal and other Federal agencies on the physical and visual effects of offshore renewable energy leasing and operations.
4) Serve as primary liaison in consulting with other Federal, state, local and tribal entities in the field of offshore and onshore cultural resource management.
5) Prepare and review portions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents and make recommendations to BOEM leadership related to offshore and onshore cultural resources and view shed impacts.
6) Prepare or provide input on proposed statutory, regulatory and other policy provisions relating to the offshore renewable energy program; identify areas where information must be developed through either agency research or contract studies.
BOEM has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
Salary Information
GS-14: $122,530 – $159,26 per annum.
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
