The successful candidate will work with the Midwest Archeological Center’s curation and archeology staff to meet National Park Service (NPS) curation standards for managing archeological collections. The intern will gain experience in a variety of curatorial activities such as archeological collections research, cataloging objects using official NPS cataloging software (ICMS), packaging and preparing artifacts and archives for storage, and tracking environmental conditions for the storage repository. Archeological collections at the Center derive from 76 NPS units and reflect a wide range of past human occupation from the earliest Native Americans through the fur trade and frontier eras, the Civil War, and presidential homes. Work will be performed at the Midwest Archeological Center, Lincoln, NE. The intern will be provided with a $1,500 stipend to assist with housing and transportation.
