Field Technicians – Southern Virginia (Paid Travel Days)
Apogee Environmental & Archaeological is seeking Field Technicians for a phase I survey in southern Virginia. This project is anticipated to begin on December 5 and will end the following week. Much of the work will involve pedestrian survey in open fields, with limited shovel testing anticipated.
Hiring rate for qualified field technicians/archaeologists is $18-$20/hr. See below for qualification considerations. Per diem is $40/day. Lodging is covered by Apogee. The first and last day of the project are travel days and will be compensated for up to 8 hours per travel day.
Required Education and Experience:
BA in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field from an accredited university.
Successful completion of an accredited US-based field school
Experience with Phase I Archaeological survey in the eastern United States (minimum 3-6 months)
Overnight travel required
Preferred Skills and Considerations:
1+ Year of field experience in eastern US archaeology
Experience with linear and/or large block surveys
First Aid/CPR training
