Beaver Creek Archaeology (BCA) is currently looking to immediately fill multiple positions for archaeological technicians to help assist us with multiple site evaluative excavations and survey work throughout the Great Plains region. The positions would be based out of Bismarck, ND.
All interested applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and physical requirements detailed below:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Provide Negative COVID test results within 24 hours prior to reporting for duty
• Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology/Anthropology or a closely related field
• Ability to work in the field for up to 100% of the time for the duration of the field season and/or project(s) hired for with overnight hotel stays – (company vehicles, hotel to work site transportation, hotels, and subsistence allotments are provided)
• Ability to walk long distances and conduct physical work in extreme weather conditions through rugged terrain
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Pass a Pre-employment and Random Non-DOT drug test
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

• Previous survey and/or excavation experience in the Plains Region
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous excavation and survey experience in the Plains Region
• Experience with Trimble GPS, ArcPad, ArcGIS, or similar hardware
• Lithic and/or faunal analysis experience
• Lab and/or artifact curation experience
Physical Requirements:
• Regularly sit and/or drive and walk across uneven terrain for hours at a time
• Utilizing vision to look for objects on the ground as well as the observation of objects at both long and short distances
• Able to utilize hands to safely work with shovels, trowels, screens, soil augers, and other necessary field equipment
• Able to work various weather conditions (including but not limited to: extreme heat, cold, wind, and/or rain)
• Ability to bend-over, squat/stoop down to inspect items and as needed for hours at a time
• Walking/Surveying for hours at a time in extreme weather and through rugged terrain (up to 12 miles per day within approximately 12 hours)
• Utilizing vision to look for objects on the ground as well as the observation of objects at both long and short distances
• Able to utilize hands to drive, hold GPS, camera, and other necessary field equipment and as needed to safely work with shovels, augers, trowels, screens
• Able to traverse across uneven and rough terrain under various weather conditions (including but not limited to: extreme heat, cold, wind, and/or rain)
• Ability to walk long distances and conduct physical work in extreme weather conditions through rugged terrain
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
