Quality Services, Inc., is hiring archeological construction monitors for an ongoing project in northern Missouri. Field work schedules are generally 45+ hours per week, Monday-Friday. Lodging provided seven days per week, with per diem on days worked. Pay rate varies depending on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Wage ranges from $18.00 to $25.00/hour with $27.00 to $37.50/hour for overtime. Project and employment estimated to be now through September 30, 2021. Employment could end earlier or be extended depending on the construction schedule. There will also be an opportunity to return for similar work in 2022.
Employees are required to provide their own Personal Protection Equipment (boots, hard hats, safety vests, gloves, hearing protection) and personal field equipment (trowel, at least one 5 to 10 meter tape measure and one 30 meter tape measure; and other personal equipment needed in ordinary archeological survey or excavation). Candidates should be able to walk 10 miles per day carrying field equipment. Inclement weather may occur year-round.
Skills highly desirable in potential employees include:
a. Master’s Degree in Anthropology or closely related field is required.
b. Secretary of the Interior Principal Investigator qualified.
c. Experience construction monitoring.
d. Experience in Midwest archeology.
e. Common sense and the ability to think for oneself, assess a situation and draw reasonable conclusions based on studying the facts.
f. Good interpersonal and communication skills which will allow one to deal effectively with the public, private landowners, clients, regulatory personnel, supervisors, and others.
g. The ability to follow and give written and verbal instructions.
h. Knowledge and implementation of safety practices including OSHA requirements.
i. Excellent technical and grammatical writing skills and reading comprehension.
j. Experience with Trimble GPS equipment.
