UPDATE Several Archaeological Field Technicians – Large 19th Century Grave Remediation Project in Downtown Columbus, Ohio, Lawhon & Associates, Inc.
Lawhon & Associates, Inc. (L&A) is seeking up to 10 additional qualified archaeological field technicians for an on-going large-scale cemetery excavation project in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The fieldwork has already commenced (start date for new hires is flexible) and is anticipated to last through April 7th. The current work schedule consists of five 10-hour days (40 regular hours and 10 OT hours per week), Monday through Friday and will likely be expanded to include Saturdays. OT is paid at time and a half. Compensation is $16.00 per hour. We will be providing single occupancy hotel accommodations (including weekends), per diem ($40/day), and daily shuttle service to and from the site for all out of town participants.
Qualified candidates will ideally have a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field. A minimum of 1 year experience conducting archaeological surveys, completion of an archaeological field school, and previous experience with large-scale excavation is desired. Candidates with relevant experience in burial excavations in a CRM setting will be given preference. The ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, sufficient physical endurance to conduct standard archaeological excavation techniques, attention to detail, work reliability, and the ability to work well with others are essential to the position. Work is primarily completed in conditioned tents, limiting exposure to winter weather. Drug testing is required by the Construction Manager.
