PaleoWest prioritizes professional development within the framework of innovation and forward thinking to encourage career advancement and research development .Job Description The Archaeological Crew Chief/Associate Archaeologist will primarily provide support to our Tallahassee Office and will be able to work independently or as a part of a team of professionals, and lead crews on archaeological survey, archaeological testing, and archaeological data recovery projects. Candidates must be able to walk several miles daily over all types of terrain and be able to work in a variety of conditions. Travel throughout the Southeast is anticipated. Hire Type: Full Time (hourly) Schedule: 40 hours, flexible schedule based on fieldwork needs Location: Tallahassee, Florida, and surrounding Southeast area Required Qualifications Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field 2+ years of experience in cultural resource management and/or supervisory experience on archaeological projects 2+ years of experience with Section 106 and/or Section 110 compliance protocol Strong working knowledge of regulations across the Southeast Meet or exceed the SOI’s Professional Qualification Standard, Code of Federal Regulations 36 CFF Part 61 for Archaeology Proficient in Microsoft Suite Familiarity with the cultural history of Florida and the southeastern United States and knowledge of state and federal cultural resource regulations Valid driver’s license Preferred Skills Experience with large-scale cultural resource projects in the Southeast Self-motivated, respectful of others, positive, energetic, and able to work and participate in a team environment Strong organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills and commitment to achieving team goals Technical writing skills and ability to provide writing examples, if requested Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, a positive work ethic and attitude, reliability, and commitment to working both independently and in a team environment Google Earth/QGIS/ArcGIS and/or other GIS products capabilities are preferred Additional Information To protect the health and safety of our workforce, PaleoWest requires all employees to disclose COVID-19 vaccination status prior to beginning employment.
