Archaeological Field Technicians and Crew Chiefs (On-Call) – ARIZONA
ASM Affiliates (ASM) has immediate openings for archaeological field technicians and crew chiefs for work in Northern Arizona. Current projections are for upwards of 5 months of fieldwork. We encourage anyone who is in the Arizona area to apply. Hiring will occur on an as-needed basis per individual project until fully staffed.
ASM is a consulting firm specializing in archaeology, history, architectural history and cultural resource management (CRM) with offices throughout the western U.S. and Hawaii. ASM is always searching for motivated cultural resource professionals to be a part of our team to operate at various levels and capacities.
Projects
Our current projects include archaeological surveys in northwest Arizona. There may be an opportunity for additional work in other areas. Work duties will be performed outdoors and may occasionally be in remote backcountry environments. Duties may require hiking over long distances, standing for long durations, and the lifting and transport of loads up to 25 lbs.
Field Technician Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Archaeology/Anthropology (or AA degree/certificate with 10+ years’ experience)
- Field school from an accredited institution or prior professional experience in the Southwest
- Be willing to work in and adapt to a variety of environments and challenging field conditions
- Experience with Trimble GPS and/or digital data recording on iPad or tablet
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required prior to the first day of work
Crew Chief Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Archaeology/Anthropology (or AA degree/certificate with 10+ years’ experience)
- Field school from an accredited institution or prior professional experience in the Southwest
- At least 2 years prior professional experience in Mohave Desert/Arizona
- Be willing to work in and adapt to a variety of environments and challenging field conditions
- Experience with Trimble GPS and/or digital data recording on iPad or tablet
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required prior to the first day of work
Compensation
Pay to be based on level of education, experience, and responsibilities. For temporary positions, sick leave accrues (one hour for every thirty hours worked), but no other benefits are provided. Per diem for lodging and meals is available for successful non-local candidates. General hourly rate ranges:
Field Techs: $20 to $25 per hour
Crew Chiefs: $26 to $28 per hour
