New South Associates, Inc. is seeking a geophysical archaeologist in its Greensboro, North Carolina office. This position is intended for a qualified individual with experience with geophysical archaeology, and the individual will be part of an archaeological geophysics team. Candidates must show familiarity and experience with near-surface geophysical field and processing methods (particularly magnetometer and ground-penetrating radar), proficiency with ArcGIS, capability of operating mapping equipment (GPS and total station). Preference will be shown for individuals with experience in the Lower South, Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic regions. Ideally the individual would also be capable of directing archaeological field work at the Phase I and Phase II level, as needed although the primary responsibility/role would be geophysical survey. Qualifications must include, at a minimum, a Masters degree in anthropology or closely related field, with experience to demonstrate abilities listed above. Other requirements include leadership ability, ability to work well in a team setting, good communication skills, good writing skills, and ability to meet schedule and deadlines on budget. Project assignments will involve directing field projects, processing and interpreting data, and preparing project reports. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
