Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), a multidisciplinary cultural resources consulting firm, has several project-based full-time, hourly positions available for archaeological Crew Technician. Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed an accredited archaeological field school. Candidates must also have a minimum of 1–2 years of field experience (i.e., survey, testing, and data recovery) and be physically fit and able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (i.e., extreme heat or cold). Candidates should also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks. Prior experience in the Mountain West (Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah) will be viewed favorably but are not a requirement.
Job Description
Reporting to the Project Director and Crew Lead, Crew Technicians are responsible for conducting archaeological survey identification of cultural resources, and site and isolate documentation. To this end, archaeological field technicians are required to perform the following tasks in the field:
· Conduct archaeological survey
· Point-locate observation and surface collection units as well as surface artifacts using a global positioning system (GPS) receiver
· Complete field forms accurately and concisely
· Must be able to conduct archaeological survey at high altitude.
· Must be prepared for all weather conditions.
· Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is $20 – $25 per hour, depending on experience.
Daily food allowance, when applicable based on the project, will be provided up to $59 per day (no receipts required).
Single-occupancy hotel accommodation will be provided during field sessions. No accommodations will be provided between sessions.
Fieldwork Duration: Fieldwork is in progress and will last until the weather allows.
