Archaeologists (NEW POSTING)
Archaeological and Historical Services, Inc. (AHS) is hiring field archaeologists/technicians for projects in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
One of southern New England’s oldest and most respected cultural resource management firms, AHS has over three decades of experience in conducting archaeological surveys of every type in every kind of setting (rural, suburban, urban). We are known for our commitment to excellence and for providing opportunities for employees to learn and grow as archaeologists. AHS has long fostered a friendly, respectful, collaborative working environment. We are particularly interested in individuals who are passionate about archaeology and learning about the past and who are keen to do more than dig shovel test pits: AHS archaeologists are actively mentored by senior staff to promote skills enhancement and regularly assist in research projects, presentations and publications that grow out of our CRM projects. AHS staff is composed of specialists in pre-contact and historic period archaeology, and also includes four historians.
Current projects include major block excavations as well as shovel-test-pit surveys. Staff are trained to work in our laboratories or at other ancillary tasks, such as conservation, archival research, and remote sensing during inclement weather and winter when outside work is not feasible. All AHS employees work year-round.
A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or a related field is required, as is completion of an accredited archaeological field school, preferably in the Northeast.
AHS, a Disadvantaged and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise, is an equal opportunity employer and encourages women and minorities to apply.
